Heirloom Hibiscus (Oaxaca)
$18.00
Hibiscus, or jamaica, is a flower with a wide range of culinary uses. It is most commonly found steeped into a chilled tea, but it is also cooked down and used as a filling in both sweet and savory preparations.
Our whole-flower hibiscus comes from the same farmers who grow Masienda’s corn and beans in coastal Oaxaca. Each flower is hand picked and slowly sun dried, in order to maintain the highest integrity possible. Unlike the commodity flowers sold in most supermarkets, no dyes are used in the production of this hibiscus. It makes for a juicier flavor with a floral, citrusy finish and naturally-stunning crimson color.

Beautiful Hibiscus Flowers — great for tea! Already steeped flowers go into rice, beans and ground up in salsas after softening at a slow simmer-nothing wasted

Super versatile product, honestly buy a bag and use your imagination! Aside of agua fresca or tea, I’ve made hibiscus bitters and simple syrup.
