Our exclusive Made In x Masienda Comal forged from the finest carbon steel, and occasionally kissed with ever-so-subtle dings on the rim or handle and/or superficial surface markings/chips. (Hot tip: Many of these markings can be removed over time with proper seasoning.) Think of these as our Comals with a little extra character.

Usage + -
Like a cast-iron skillet, Comal requires seasoning before use. Comal is not reliably compatible with induction burners and may warp during use. It will function over an electric stovetop, however, this may lead to uneven cooking and surface discoloration.

In the Round
A comal is a circular-shaped cooking griddle upon which many masa dishes, most notably tortillas, are prepared. Whereas traditional comales are made of clay, our Comal is designed with the modern kitchen in mind. It's made of the finest blue carbon steel, seamlessly blending the heat retention of a cast-iron pan (at half the weight!) with the responsiveness of stainless steel. With a bit of seasoning (read up about that on our blog), Comal is the kind of everyday pan that will earn a permanent spot on your stovetop.
'Tis the Season
Seasoning is the process of treating the surface of Comal with a non-stick coating formed from polymerized oil, which fill the small pores of its surface. A healthy layer of seasoning, also known as patina, will protect your Comal from rust and create a one-of-a-kind non-stick surface.

What’s a second?
Seconds are the proverbial runts of the litter. They are items that, despite being new, contain one or multiple imperfections that render them unsellable at full price, from chips in paint or stone to a crushed outer box. Rather than dispose of them, we prefer to find these items great homes with just the right kind of owners, the ones who are willing to trade an imperfection for a steep discount. All seconds are final sale.
Do I get to see my exact item, imperfections and all, before purchasing?
Unfortunately, no. The products are boxed up in our warehouse, and it would be near impossible to unpackage and photograph them all. So, you’ll have to embrace a certain element of mystery! We’ve tried to illustrate some examples of what you might expect in the image galleries of each product page, and we hope you find that helpful.
What if I’m unhappy with what I receive?
Our team has reviewed seconds quality to ensure every product is functional as intended, with potential cosmetic concerns that don’t warrant full price. Quirky! Still not satisfied? Send us a note to info@masienda.com, and we'll do our best to make it right.
When will I receive my product?
Fulfillment may take up to 3 business days. Once in transit, most orders take 3-5 business days to arrive, depending on location, carrier, and weather conditions. Once your order ships, you will receive an automatically-generated email with your tracking number (don’t see it? check spam!)
