Champurrado Mix
5 Pack (1.5 oz each)

Champurrado is a chocolate-y version of an atole, a warm masa-based beverage enjoyed in various regions across Mexico. Its name is derived from the word champurrar, meaning "to mix," because this drink is traditionally frothed vigorously with a wooden mixing tool called a molinillo. While champurrado is typically prepared fresh for breakfast, we’ve given it the packaged treatment for the moments when you need a quick, cozy fix. Our Heirloom White Corn Masa Harina joins single-origin 70% dark chocolate sourced by Dandelion Chocolate, cane sugar, cinnamon, and salt for a delicious pick-me-up.

Review Highlights-

Tastes like Mexico

The Champurrado reminded me of the ones I tasted as a child in Mexico. I make it with a plant based milk, due to my dairy intolerance, adding extra milk for my preferred sweetness. I have been enjoying a cup in the evening while I watch TV for the perfect closing of my day!

Excellent in every way!

The packets are seamless to prepare on the stovetop and are perfect in flavor and texture! They are just sweet enough to feel both indulgent and nourishing. Perfect in the morning and even later in the day - it is just so cozy and so good!!! Just came back to order more!

Find Your Goldilocks

Like so many of our favorite foods, champurrado invites you to make it your own. Prepare as directed if you like it on the thicker side, or feel free to add more milk or water for a smoother consistency. Adding a dash of cayenne, clove or vanilla while simmering is also a delicious option – or a shot of orange liqueur to take it from breakfast beverage to happy hour. And if you prefer to eat your chocolate and masa, check out this recipe for Champurrado-inspired brownies.

Atole, like champurrado, is a warm masa-based beverage. However, champurrado contains chocolate!

What’s the difference between Champurrado Mix and chocolate tabletas?

Champurrado is like hot chocolate but has a thicker texture and more filling quality because it contains our finely milled masa harina, made with heirloom corn.
