Bring the Kitchen Outside With Bean, Corn & Sardine Sopes

Sopes with Tinned Sardines, Beans, Corn and Salsa

This summer, skip the stove and cook outside. These crispy sopes come together with just a few ingredients: masa harina, a tin of sardines and beans, and a little oil. They’re perfect for the comal, grill, or campfire skillet. The recipe is simple, flexible, and made for outdoor meals or easy weeknight cooking. Grab the ingredients and your favorite camping spot. Dinner is served.

Hi Freyda — thanks for the suggestion! Our recipe was developed using Patagonia sardines, but if you don’t have access to those, you can try a simple version at home: 1 can of sardines, ¼ cup black beans (canned or cooked), ⅛ cup corn, and ⅛ cup of your favorite salsa. Mix together and enjoy!

It would be nice if you also gave the ingredients and method for making these from the basics; black beans, dried or canned, corn (fresh, frozen, sweet, dried?), and canned sardines (or fresh). That would make it possible for anyone to make these with the basics available at home.
