This Gelato (and Shortbread!) are Chock Full of Corn Flavor

Brian Levy, author of Good & Sweet, is known for bakes that are sweetened by fruit and other natural, unexpectedly sweet ingredients – like corn! For Masienda's Sweets Week, he created a gelato recipe that is based on a traditional egg-less "Fior di Latte" gelato that utilizes masa as a thickener. Its nuanced flavor is courtesy of Heirloom Yellow Corn Masa Harina, honey and bay leaf. The crumbly, buttery shortbread accompaniment has bold corn flavor thanks to Yellow Masa Harina and freeze-dried sweet corn, with sweetness coming from the corn and date sugar.
